The Mk I version of this popular transverter has been used by the most successful groups in contest working. The Mk II version has been equipped with an ultra high performance GaAs fet front end and a 25W power MOS output stage. It provides truly excellent performance on the 2m band when used with a good H.F. transceiver. It provides 25W pep or CW from a drive level of 0.1 to 250mW. The receive amplifier is a low noise two stage negative feedback design, as used in the GMFA 144e, resulting in a noise figure of 1.75 dB combined with excellent strong signal capabilities.
